More On The Shooting

My reading is limited on this massacre, but I thought these were worth noting:

N.R. Kleinfield with a profile (read this account; and, by the way, Kleinfield profiled another killer very recently): From the beginning, he did not talk. Not to other children, not to his own family. Everyone saw this. In Seoul, South Korea, where Seung-Hui Cho grew up, his mother agonized over his sullen, brooding behavior and empty face. Talk, she just wanted him to talk.

Matthew Bowers on those seeking comfort: James McMullen II craved his old bed. Stephanie Sullivan preferred the comforting cocoon of the family couch. Erin Vellines climbed under the covers with her mom, her younger sister and their yellow Labrador retriever.

Lon Wagner on paying respect: A shopper in a Virginia Beach grocery store paused in the produce section over a mound of potatoes; a woman in maroon stood in the shade on Bank Street in downtown Norfolk and bowed her head as church bells played "Amazing Grace"; the cashier at a Subway in Portsmouth, too busy to stop, tugged her Virginia Tech cap and kept ringing people up.
