In court: For nearly 15 years it has endured among the more bizarre mysteries in Mafia lore, a competitive field if ever there was one: When a young couple from Queens — armed with an Uzi, a Mercury Topaz and a dream — ventured out to rob social clubs run by the mob, how exactly were they expecting things to end?



After weeks of testimony from high-ranking Mafia defectors, prosecutors in Federal District Court in Brooklyn yesterday were no closer to settling that question. Instead, they focused on how things actually did end for the couple on Dec. 24, 1992: In the front seat of their car, shot three times in the head.
