Kruse passed along this piece from Connie Schultz. And check out Christian Wade's Trib debut: The Deep Lagoon clubhouse, a faded yellow building with clumps of long grass sprouting from its foundation, has a sign that was meant to be a listing for social events. But the blackboard is blank. No barbecues. No meetings. Nothing but a sarcastic missive someone scribbled in white chalk. "Happiness is a northern bound Yankee," it says. Inside the building, cardboard boxes and garbage are piled in corners. Rows of metal chairs gather dust in the middle of the room. "Nobody goes in that place anymore," says Shawn Feddersen, a hulky 28-year-old who lives in the park with his wife and two children. "It's filthy and there's mold." The public bathroom, across the way, is even worse. "I wouldn't wash a dog in there," he says. "It's disgusting." Welcome to Deep Lagoon Mobile Home Park, New Port Richey's newest neighborhood.
