Loved reading this inside my KC Star yesterday. Lee Hill Kavanaugh: The teachers at Grandview's Conn-West Elementary School were told the night before: big assembly tomorrow.

The rumor was that a group of VIPs was coming Thursday to talk with the kids.

Fifth-grade teacher Anika Williams, 38, fretted about what to wear. Something nice, she thought. She chose a denim suit with a ruffled collar.

She just hoped it would all be over by the afternoon. That was when her fifth-grade students were going to make their presentations, the ones they've worked on for weeks.
