One More Casualty

'IT'S A PRIME LOCATION TO HIDE A BOMB'

So check this out. Liam Dillon, a Gangrey reader who writes for the Naples Daily News, spent six months with a wounded soldier home from Iraq. Here's the story he came up with:



They waited until Joseph was 3 feet away before they detonated the bomb. The force blasted him back from the road's median where they had hidden the device in some trash. Shrapnel pierced his flesh. Dark smoke filled the air. On the ground, he tried to hold his gun and remain alert, but he was yelling over and over. Joseph could hear Holzinger, about 60 feet to his right, screaming: "I'm going to die! I'm going to die!"
